What guests think

Travellers praise Clarion Hotel By Humboldt Bay for friendly, accommodating staff and the added security of gated parking, while noting the convenient Highway 101 location and decent value; however, several mention a sketchy surrounding area and traffic or guest noise.

Rooms are often described as clean with comfortable beds, but decor and furnishings feel dated in places, and some guests report maintenance issues or unpleasant odors. Wi‑Fi reliability is a recurring weak spot, with several reports of slow or spotty connections. Guests appreciate the indoor heated pool and pet-friendly setup, though the pool can be closed or feel worn, and breakfast feedback ranges from very good to mediocre depending on day and items. Expect friendly service and security-focused basics at a modest, aging property.

Breakfast seemed like leftover potatos and eggs...though they did come bring fresh stuff shortly after I was done eating (I was there first thing, so I am sure it wasn't fresh.). The Gym could use some attention, the treadmill was stuck in an incline and the crawl space cover above the bike was wide open and the pool was out of order. The staff were all wonderful and helpful. The fenced parking lot is a welcomed feature. I will stay again as I come to Eureka to visit my daughter who is in school there.

Questionable neighbourhood, wouldn’t walk around this neighbourhood. Room was dated which would be ok if it was cleaner. Hair in the tub and on the floor. I used Lysol wipes to clean surfaces, tub and it was dirty. Comforter and one pillow dirty, not sure what the crusty brown stuff was on these. Definitely not worth the $190 paid. Well lit, fenced, security gated parking lot. Quiet. Beds very soft. Day front staff friendly. Breakfast nice selection.

We enjoyed our stay here. Very clean room and great beds. Good selection for breakfast even with no eggs served. It’s a dog friendly place. Our room lightly smelled of dog pee. It’s by the AC/heater or on the chair next to it. Finding our room was a little challenging since we have to find the gate to go through. Despite all of these, we will still come back the next time we’re in the area. Hopefully, we’ll get a room that doesn’t smell of dog pee.

I was expecting a lot more for just over $100/night. The staff was awesome, the room was pretty good, but it was right on the 101, and there was a loud hum/buzz emanating from somewhere outside my room. Their wifi was absolutely awful (1-4Mbps down), could barely get any work done, let alone browse.

the hotel is a not so great renovated (awhile back) older hotel. Hotels.com gave it an 8.2 rating but it should be more like 7.2. The furnishings are very old and dinged up. the room we stayed in had paint peeling from the trim in the bathroom and a piece of paneling nailed to the bottom of the door to hide a hole.

It seems like this was once a beautiful property, but currently it’s fenced and secure due, sadly, to a large homeless population. Traffic noise is quite loud off of 101, and the wireless internet was incredibly slow and frequently froze or disconnected. I work on the road sometimes, and had to go to the public library everyday to be able to reliably send and receive emails and documents. Hotels should have to disclose their internet speed, especially when it’s advertised as an amenity.

The bed was super comfy, room was clean, check in was easy. The lobby was really nice. We didn't like the layout of the room, tough getting around because the bed was so close to the tv. Shower leaked constantly and had very little pressure. Parking was horrible, very tight navigating through the lot to get to our room. Dining area was a mess, not kept clean, especially the waffle iron, it was a disaster.
