Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments - All Inclusive

Room was great and clean, no issues with plumbing for once. Staff was all very courteous and the food was good also. Buffet wasn't amazing but it was edible, the beach restaurant was great so mostly ate there. Location was great also - easy access to other bars and restaurants. The pool is not huge but it was never overly busy and there was always room on the beach with chairs available.

This was a good place to stay, we got the honeymoon suite with the hot tub or (jacuzzi tub) in it and it was comfortable and clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful, super easy beach access and our room had a view of the pools, beach and ocean which was beautiful. The spa experience was also wonderful, I had the hot stone massage and it was the best massage I have ever had, so high reviews on that one. The food was great, the selection was nice, I was surprised by how good it was. On the Thursday night we were there and maybe every Thursday they had a Mexican night and brought in Mariachis, and dancers, it was great. Lot of fun, I would definingly recommend it!

This resort is very nice and close to the Malecon which is why I chose it. The pools at the resort are nice but way too crowded. All chairs were taken first thing in the morning and my room was above the pool so it was very loud at night. The staff were wonderful though and the beach was beautiful.

We stayed at this property for 3 weeks in Feb 2025. The location was fantastic. The service was usually excellent. I haven’t had better poolside service anywhere. We had an issue with our A/C and maintenance was there to fix it within 5 minutes. The cleaning staff was excellent and sometimes showed up in the evenings for turn down service and fresh towels again. You had to be up by 6:30-7am to get a good seat by the main pool. The loungers at the smaller pool didn’t fill up as early but that pool was kept way too warm. They did ‘police’ the saving of loungers but not consistently unfortunately. The beach area was not the best and not that walkable. It was quite rocky in a lot of areas. The food was just okay, and I don’t expect great food from an all-inclusive, but it was seldom ever more that lukewarm at best and not much flavour. The breakfasts were the best. The hamburgers and the chicken burritos from the snack bar were awesome. Our biggest complaint is the beds and pillows. The beds were so hard we woke in pain every day. I finally took the comforter from my bed and folded it in 3 and slept on top of that. Overall, probably more positive than negative points to this smaller, intimate resort.

Overall great experience. Service was incredible everyone was nice and attentive. Food was good. Rooms were good. Beach was nice. Location was excellent. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Maybe only the gym can use improvement so if you don’t care for that then you’re set!

We spent 5 days at this all inclusive. We had three adults and two teenagers. The room and grounds were very clean, and the staff, with the exception of one incident, were very nice and helpful. The food is mediocre, but in line with most all-inclusive buffets. The one complaint that I have about the property is that there are not enough chairs and umbrellas at the pool and beach to accommodate the number of guests at the property. In order to have a chair/umbrella, you have to get to the pool around 7am. You are not allowed to leave seats for more than 15 minutes. Security guards photograph chairs and belongings to document how long someone is away. After 15 minutes, they will remove your belongings so someone else can use the chairs. And under no circumstances are you allowed to move the umbrellas. Guests use this policy against each other. It is entertaining to watch until it happens to you, which brings me to our one incident with staff. We had one day during our trip where we had no excursions planned and wanted to spend the entire day at the pool and beach. We got to the pool early, and inadvertently sat in an adults-only section. There was one sign, but it was at an entrance we didn't use. A guest complained, and three security guards approached us, and demanded that we move. One had photos of our passports on his phone, which was disturbing. I advised the management, and they were able to find chairs for us, but did not address the passport issue.

The Mediterranean restaurant was good. We did mot try the Mexican restaurant because it had little options for meals. The pool staff was very accommodating, and fun and pleasant. The Activities staff was not real engaging and when trying to play beach volleyball, they were no help! Overall vibe is chill and relaxing. Always able to find beach chairs, though security is right on it if you leave your chair/belonging for more than 15 mins! Yes...15 mins! Enjoyed our stay but would not return...sad sad rocky beach!

Staff were excellent especially the servers at Frutas Y Flores. Limited dining options which made it difficult to feed my two picky eaters so had to dine out a few times. Location is great. Not far from Malecón and the La Isla shopping area. Short drive to the airport too. For an all inclusive, we were shocked to find out room service had a fee but it was stated on their website which I had missed. Pools were great but difficult to find lounge chairs if you weren’t up early. Overall, we had a good experience here and my kiddos didn’t want to leave.

We had a fantastic one week stay at the Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments - All Inclusive. The king size room we booked were small, with no real view, but the bed was comfortable and had everything we needed. We spent little time in there either way as we really enjoyed the beautiful pool area, beach and grounds. The staff were incredibly friendly. The pool service was outstanding and our drinks/snacks were always delivered with a smile. The Thursday evening fiesta was a treat! Delicious food, and incredible dancing, music and a set up that took a huge effort by staff. Overall, my husband and I, our son and his wife all enjoyed a wonderful stay. We loved the proximity to the Malecon and walkability into Puerto Vallarta.

This is a smaller AI in an excellent location. The staff are all exemplary and very attentive. They work very hard to make sure all guests are happy. The gym needs some work. The food is okay- you will always be able to find something you like.

Staff service is amazing, the pool need more attention, there is mold inside the pool , the worse part is the buffet area, we stayed for 4 days, every single time there was mosquitoes and flies around the food and over the pastries, and they didn’t even bother to take care of that issue, that looks like flies n the food areas is something normal for them, that was very disgusting.

Stay away from this property. To begin, the time share people are persistent and do not leave you alone after a simple no. The room had cockroaches. The food options were terrible and the restaurants were reservation only. The pools were very small and the beach is not walkable and full of rocks. There was loud construction everyday. The service was awful with only one person walking around. We left several items in our room and came back after check out to get them back and the security and management was so unprofessional and no help. The cleaning people stole our items and they claimed nothing was found in the room. Stay away!

We stayed at Buenaventura Grand Hotel & Great Moments for 5 days and 4 nights, and while there were a few highlights, the overall experience left much to be desired — especially for an all-inclusive resort. Food & Dining (1/5): The biggest disappointment was the food. There was a serious lack of variety in dining options. By the second day, I was already burnt out on the repetitive and uninspired Mexican dishes offered. While I expected authentic flavors, what we got instead felt more like cafeteria-style food with little to no creativity or freshness. The American food served by the pool and at the Sunset restaurant was even worse — the hamburger tasted like something out of a vending machine, and the nachos seemed like they were assembled with canned ingredients. I had high hopes for the dinner experience at the Sunset restaurant, but the meal was honestly inedible. Every dish was over-salted to the point where it masked any other flavor. There was no balance or finesse — just heavy seasoning that felt like an afterthought. We also tried the Corazón restaurant, which was a slight improvement, but still far from a refined dining experience. It had potential, but needed better execution and fresher ingredients. Cleanliness & Hygiene (2/5): Another issue was the hygiene around food and drinks. Our room was spotless! We loved our week at the Buenaventura. The location was ideal, we felt safe, the beach and the pools were wonderful and the entertainment and special meals were so good! The buffet was very good, for that style of eating, but it was also nice to have a la carte options. The service was exceptional and we would welcome a chance to stay there again!

We had cockroaches in our room on the first floor. They did not have a room available to move us into that night (this was on night 3 of our 7 night stay) when asked about a refund for the nights of sleeping with the roaches was not given anything other than an apology. Was even told that they may not move use since we didn’t allow them to clean our just cleaned room at 11:30 at night. We had been out on the Malecón all day and didn’t return until 11:30. Was told that since we didn’t have proof of the roach infestation they would move us. Well luckily my wife took pictures of the roaches hanging out on the wall and with our toothbrushes in the bathroom. Showed them the pics and then they were no longer worried about proof since they now had it. I think they assumed the roaches scurried away, but these guys were on vacation chilling just like us. This is our tenth or so time at this resort, won’t return due to the cockroach issue and poor customer service. Will likely be disputing some of the charges. We paid way too much money to sleep in a cockroach infested room. The staff at all of the bar and restaurants were great.

Hotel was nice but bathroom outlet didn’t work, phone didn’t work, bathroom tank ran all day and night, tv voice went in and out and then picture would freeze. Didn’t report until we left because when we arrived, we had already checked in and out all our things away and it was extremely hot and we didn’t want to have to move everything if they even offered us a different room. They didn’t even offer a small refund even though they charged me an extra $1100 dollars to add my husband to the room because they said I only reserved for one person through Expedia even though I am positive I entered two guests. Won’t be going back to this hotel

The one night we did the "sunset" restaurant for a birthday the food was again just OK. We did the paid upgrade for a steak and it was raw and flavorless, not even a little salt or pepper on the meat. The beach and pools were nice and bar staff was attentive. Rooms were a little small.

One of the most convenient places to stay in Puerto Vallarta. You step out the door right in to town or exit the lobby right onto the beach! An absolute gem of a location. Food was excellent! Housekeeping left a little to be desired. Some stains on bedding… nothing crazy or too off-putting and resolvable! We stayed in the Honeymoon suite and it was PERFECT. The best view! Nolberto, the bellman, made our stay extra special! He was so kind and always went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful stay! I would definitely return!

Rooms a/c didn’t work

The hotel itself was pretty good! The only downside was booking an ocean view and the view from our balcony was completely blocked by palm trees. Could even see the pool let alone the ocean. We also booked a spa appointment and it was for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We got to the spa and they didn’t have the reservation. We spoke to the management team of the hotel and they couldn’t do anything. No offer of anything to make the situation right. Other than that the experience was pretty good!

The hotel is in a great location next to downtown. The big issue is the rooms not being sound proof.

Ask to have our room temperature adjusted first day and never had it fix room 75 every day.

The room I paid for was "Ocean View". However, due to the large Palm trees, my view was so obstructed, I dont consider it "ocean view" I should of just paid less for a non ocean view. Nothing was offered to me in compensation. The dining was average at best, with little to know variety. The pool service and dining service workers, were all excellent and spot on, however. Lastly, the room we stayed in was so humid, it had a musty/ mildew smell that made all of our belongings, and clothing smell that way as well. Had to wash everything twice when I got home. I observed visible black mold in many areas. Great Location, but I cannot recommend.

Everything was fine; I would be wary of the timeshare spiel upon arrival on the property, as the staff is extremely intense about it.

A hotel can be a hotel anywhere in the world, but its staff is what really sets it apart. The staff at Buenaventura Grand is the best I've seen. Everyone you ask a question to greets you with a smile and it is noted that they are happy to be there.

Great stay at Buena Ventura Grand!! The staff is super professional, friendly, catered to our every need!! Miguel amd Victor are amazing attentive bartenders! Knew exactly what we were drinking as soon as we sat down at the bar! Jimmi server in the buffet was the best! Took excellent care of us! Property is super clean. Rooms are nice and comfortable.. will stay here again in the near future..

Location close to downtown, nice and walkable. Beach nice. Rooms are small but clean. Temperature issues with some rooms too warm and other rooms too cold. Front desk staff is not friendly and not helpful. Staff tried to sell time share. Not happy with that. Food just so so, some nights good, some nights not good. Would not come back.

This Hotel was spotless. Staff was friendly and very attentive. They welcomed us at the lobby with lemonade as we were checking in. The food was delicious the drinks were great. I loved everything about this Hotel this is the 1st time I give an excellent review to a Hotel. The malecon is nearby walking distance we walked there every night it was so lovely. I highly recommend it.

El hotel esta bien, lamentablemente me toco en una época con mucha gente y niños. No me gusto que quisieran venderme un tiempo compartido y que me retrasaran en entregar la habitación. La comida es muy buena , aun que para entrar hay que hacer fila, y el ambiente musical estuvo bien. Las personas que trabajan ahí son amables. La habitación estuvo muy bien, aun que deberían de poner televisiones un poco más grandes, poner una lista con los canales que tienen.

Love the staff. Catherin was awesome and treated us like family, Wendy and front desk staff were phenomenal and went out of their way to make your experience top notch. Pool wait staff and bartenders ran their feet off and did an impeccable job at it. Location of hotel in the city was perfect, not far from the Malecon. Our stay was fabulous. If I had to have one complaint which is not so much about the hotel but I really wish people wouldn’t park their towels on lounge chairs and “self reserve” for the entire day. Hotel has policy of not allowing this and they try their best, but people please… if everyone just left the seats for others when they walk away to go to lunch for two hours, trust me there would be seats for everyone, there is such a turnover rate when people respect that. Thank you to the staff, we had a really great holiday and you had a big part in that.

Enjoyed our stay. Food was good and the staff was phenomenal. Didn’t love the sales pitches for club membership or constant vendors on the beach. Not as sandy as pictured. Mexican themed night with live entertainment was amazing.

Servers in the seafood restaurant need lots of training and better attitude; staff in the buffet restaurant were excellent though. The check out process can be improve by having one front desk staff at check out hours to expedite the service.

Small resort in a nice location near Malecon shopping and dining. Very Clean, well maintained. Food and drinks were good, Mexican show was awesome. Will definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.

This was the perfect hotel for us. We loved how walkable everything was when we left the hotel. Attractions, sights, restaurants, coffee, shopping, bars, casino, Oxxo, culture, grocery and much more were right out the front door of the hotel. We found that fantastic. As much as we enjoyed our time at the pools and beach it was great to be so close to so many things to do. Only can we used all week was to the airport. Only slight negative was th food at hotel was just average but didn’t bother us because once we learned how close the hotel was to so many great places to eat we decided to eat out every night. As a couple I do not even think we will go all inclusive at the hotel next time. So many cheap and great dining options in very easy walking distance. Also if you drink there is lots of bars and liquor stores close to buy cheap alcohol to take to your room. I would use the saved money on going all inclusive to explore the area right out the front door. We will forsure go back.

Our stay at this hotel was fantastic! Extremely clean facilities, amazing staff and very convenient location within walking distance to all of downtown PV!

We found the quality of meals disappointing. The breakfast was pretty good, but other meals were not very good. We ended up eating out rather than dining in the hotel. The hotel location and pool area is good, no complaints on the room. Did not appreciate the selling up of services as part of the check in process. Fine to offer it, but no hard sell when all you want is your room key. Also, the inflexibility on a late check out without purchasing an upgrade, was also disappointing. Next time will likely look elsewhere.

Very minimal staff support. Not many food options with the only restaurant on site hardly ever available ( not that it was very good). The only other option was cheap burgers or equivalent at the pool and a buffet that had all the same food practically every day that had barely enough flavor to be edible. Found ourselves eating for sustenance only without any pleasure in it.

If you are looking for a location on the water & close to the Melacon Boardwalk, this is the place ! Updated rooms and friendly staff for sure! Wasn't crazy about the Buffet but the restaurants were pretty tasty!

The beach had a lot of rocks hard o the feet to go in to the water

Food options seem to more of a rinse and repeat everyday. Inconsistent staff at table when dining in the restaurant, order something from one person, and then another comes asking the same thing and don't check in regularly to see if there is anything else you need. People with upgraded packages receive preferential service in the same areas as the rest of the people. Recommend having separate areas for upgrades if you don't receive the same level of service. The resort is on the smaller side, so can get busy and noisy in the pool with no other place to go. The adult pool is not supervised enough and fills with kids which is not ideal for those who don't have or want to be around screaming children all day.
