Entertainment team was very good. Property is well maintained. Very relaxing, laid back feel. Didn’t like long wait for some restaurants (no reservation policy) and lack of bartenders - only 1 bartender at beach bar & pool bar most of the time with 10 minute waits common.

They charge for basic water activies which no other all inclusive has done. The beach is nice with lots of chairs but they were very dirty and you cannot access the water very well because it is very rocky. The staff was nice and the beds were very comfy. The drinks were very good, much better than most all inclusives. The buffet was the best option for meals, which shouldnt be the case especially for an iberostar. This resort was okay for a short getaway but it was lacking in mant ways.

This is a great place to stay and always have a great time. The one issue that really bothered me this trip was that they new charge a fee to use the kayaks and water activities. The hotel says it’s included but it’s not really included!

Beautiful tropical jungle property. The staff is hardworking and friendly. Buffet & smokehouse are great, entertainment throughout the day & wildlife is abundant. Rooms are quirky & small but each have a porch/balcony with nice hammock. The beach is rocky so bring water shoes. The location is far from town but close to dive/snorkel spots. Mainly families, divers & couples staying here but be aware they do offer day passes to cruisers. We enjoyed our stay

The food was really good (no need to go to town), the place was clean, beautiful garden areas, fun flamingos, iguanas, peacocks and coati to watch. Great location for getting to the diving/snorkel areas right from the dock, and rooms were nice. The smell from the more eco friendly sanitation/sewer tanks was heavy at times when walking in certain areas. You get a bit used to it, and you can feel happy that this place is caring about the environment. Hopefully, the hotel can improve this with time. The room smelled perfectly fine and each room has an air purifier. The water from special filtration sites next the the bungalows is safe to drink and at all meals too. The hotel has a full diving/snorkel/diving school company on site. It was great not having to go elsewhere. We also had a blast taking the small catamaran out which is included with hotel plus ($6) Ecological entrance fee per person. Bring your own snorkel gear if possible as the hotel and the diving place does not rent them out to take off site. You can only use them while on a snorkel or diving tour. You don’t need fins to do other locations near the shore, but you could do more if you had them. Bring “reef safe sunscreen” with you. This is the only kind allowed in the ocean in this protected area. The sunscreen at the shop on site is $26 USD. We rented a scooter for two days to visit other areas to snorkel. Don’t ride the scooters on the nice “bicycle only” small streets that parallel the main road.

Resort is laid back with jungle feel. The bar staff were wonderful. My only complaint was the buffet dining was not always hot and fresh. However the restaurants each night with menu service were delicious. Sad the oriental restaurant closed before we left as it is so yummy. Beach is rocky but there is a pier with easy entry.

Short version? Quiet, friendly, intimate, and island paced location. Loved it. Although many told us this is a smaller all inclusive, we thought it had plenty and we really enjoyed our stay. The landscaping is lush, clean, and welcoming. We loved the wildlife seeing flamingos, many different types of smaller birds, iguanas, and coatis as well. The food was quite good, honestly nothing negative about anything we ate. Also, I appreciated how they had purified water fill stations and ice stations everywhere, not giving throw away plastic bottles and instead providing us with glass refillable bottles for water to keep in the room. If I had to mention anything as a negative, it would be restaurant options, which are limited in that there are at most 3 dinner options, usually one to two lunch or breakfast options. For me, I didn’t mind as all the food available was quite good. El Cedral has good BBQ options like pulled pork and their rolls are great. Towards the end of our stay we finally convinced our 15yr old to let us try the other buffet restaurant by the front desk called Cozumel. That had great options too. For people who are used to having 4+ restaurant options for each meal you might be disappointed. Activity options were great, your standard beach things plus archery and rifle shooting (which we didn’t try), and one tennis court. Tennis court has pickleball lines and they have some basic pickleball gear. We will be back for sure though.

Iberostar waves in Cozumel is a fantastic place to stay. The beach, the pool, the bars, the food, the staff, the dive shop on site, and the wildlife on site are all amazing. This location is very well kept, and you can see the staff constantly landscaping and making the experience worth while. They even has a man with a hawk that will detour the birds during breakfast which I think is an above and beyond thing to do for all guests to enjoy their food without worrying about any animals stealing your food. Highly recommend this place and I will be back in the future.

This is a tropical oasis. The grounds are beautiful. This place has everything but a walk-in beach.(some rocks/coral) Lots of food options. Spacious and mostly clean rooms.(It's practically a jungle so some bugs are expected) I would certainly recommend it.

Loved the eco friendly mindset. The food was great and unique. The only issue and it was a big one…the smell. We never found out if it was onsite sewer treatment or the water sprinklers or if it is always like that or just temporary but the smell was horrible and all of the time all over the entire property.

This was the fourth time that we have stayed at Iberostar, and our third visit to Cozumel. It has always been paradise; we have always loved our time there. This visit was different. The odors (sewage) was almost unbearable. The smell turned paradise into a sewer. Additionally, my wife and I had upset stomach’s during our entire stay. Was it the food or something else, we are not sure? We must look for other other vacation options in the future. So disappointing and so sorry.

The food was great, the options were great, never waited for a table. The staff were friendly, helpful. The room was perfect and housekeeping was phenomenal. The beach was beautiful, clean, and quiet. Yoga was well done. The pool was sparkling and hand-cleaned. There was entertainment during the day and night. The towels were plush. The room was dated but perfectly adequate for a beach vacation. Housekeeping kept it spotless throughout our stay. We stayed during a very busy time so the resort was quite full but never felt crowded and there was plenty of pool and beach space for everyone. The staff seemed a bit stressed but were always pleasant and helpful. Food quality and choices were top notch. We came to dive and it doesn’t get much more convenient than this. Dressel Divers has a shop and dock on premises and Palencar Reef is a short boat ride away. The reef was vibrant and healthy as ever. So the dive experience underwater is excellent. However Dressel crowds 30 divers on each boat which is simply too much. They can’t even carry enough air for everyone and need to go back to the dock to reload between dives. The resort grounds, amenities and adjacent areas are gorgeous and safe for long long walks. Overall a very positive experience at Iberostar Cozumel.

We had an incredible stay at Iberostar Waves Cozumel. My husband, our 2.5-year-old son, and I enjoyed every moment. From arranging a nanny to getting back into scuba diving after almost three years, everything was handled so smoothly. Babysitting: We were genuinely impressed with the babysitting crew. Isabella (front desk manager) was like the sweetest auntie to our son—warm, attentive, and always there when we needed help. Alexia (kitchen chief assistant) went above and beyond to entertain him and make sure our picky eater was happy. And Michele was so friendly and caring. They all made us feel completely at ease and added so much comfort to our trip. Food: The food was simply amazing. The variety was mind-blowing, everything cooked perfectly, and we loved having the main restaurant plus three specialty restaurants. We never had a meal that wasn’t great. Room: Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-kept. It was on the smaller side for a family of three, and the beds could be a bit softer, but overall it met our needs and we slept well. Diving: The dive crew was awesome! Each dive master had their own personality, but Veronica was definitely our favorite. She was everything you’d hope for—knowledgeable, confident, charismatic, and so lively and open. She made every dive memorable. Check-in was woeful with an underwhelming welcome. Lobby was littered with half-full and empty drinks upon our 4pm arrival. King bed was reserved, though unavailable, so our room was two double beds for our anniversary trip.They offered to move is to a king bed the next night and to push together our double beds, leaving out the fact that the headboards are fixed to the wall. No one ever came to do this. Woman was in our room when we got there, and she said she was just making sure everythng was perfect. We pointed out the flickering light bulb in the overhead light and she said someone would come to fix that right away. Light bulb in overhead flickered until it died. No one ever came. Sewage stench woke me up in the middle of the night it was so strong. Limited restaurants, though rhe food was good at most (not Pagoda or El Cedral for dinner). Service was decent throughout. Beach had empties and cigarette butts throughout. No upgrade offered, even when i mentioned it was our anniversary trip. Coupons(?) were offered after our third night there and then again our penultimate night, which seemed pointless. Hard pass on this place and hard pass on the brand.

Fördelarna var varierad och exceptionellt bra mat. Gott om plats, trots jul. Vänlig personal och bra service. Den stora nackdelen är att det går knappt bada i havet utan badskor pga rev och stenar. We really enjoyed our stay here. The bungalow rooms are a bit smaller than the hotel rooms I am used to, but it was still very comfortable. Everything was clean. The beach is rocky, but if you go out on the pier, there are stairs into the water where it is better. We spent a lot of time at the pool, where they have a swim-up bar, as well as servers to bring you drinks. The staff was very friendly, and there were some fun activities scheduled that you could participate in if you wanted to. The buffets had a lot of delicious options. We also enjoyed the entertainment in the evening.

Staff is the big standout for us. Everybody was helpful. The Executive Chef managed a great kitchen with delicious choices. The Property needs a refresh in terms of looking impeccable with EVERYthing working properly. We will go back to Iberostar again, and we aren't even divers!

Some staff really did not want to b there. We tipped everyone American for everything. Beds very uncomfortable. Pd over $7500 due to 2 mo before trip, but states 5 star resort totally not. Try to get info from staff just speak fast and no real help. We have not been to Cozumel in 25 yrs and remember more friendly staff. Food is not good. Okay….everything needs some refresh…totally not cared for well….we had fun but not usual mexico experience….usually do Cancun or Playa.

Location, location, location. If you’re diving you’re already at the South end of the Island. Food is so, so for Mexico. Staff is great, pool is nice because you have 2 sides. Not too many Kids. Alberto’s Beach Bar right next door you can walk over, food is good and live music 2-3 nights a week

The perfect spot for getting away from the city. This resort happens to be the last resort south of the island, anything past it are jungles and beaches that can only be access during the day time. The famous "Cielo" and "Cielito" tour destination are close by and you could even use the resort's dock to call in your tour guide and/or get the tour from the resort itself. As for the service itself, great and friendly staff, the property is well kept and very in line with nature. I would recommend without a thought!

Iberostar Waves is my favorite resort on the island. I have stayed there 5 separate times. I’ve been scuba diving in Cozumel for 25 years and have stayed at many of the other resorts on island. Iberostar exceeds them all in my opinion.

The Iberostar resort is a very popular resorts on the southwest side of Cozumel. The location is really nice as is the condition of the property. It is difficult to get into the ocean because the reef comes right up to the beach. It is really great for a relaxing beach vacation though. What was really outstanding was the food, even though the resort caters to a lot of foreign tourists, the food was very local without compromising on the taste and flavors that make Mexican food so delicious. The smaller restaurants have bad acoustics so it gets a little noisy when there is a crowd. The rooms were small but comfortable. Unfortunately, while I was there, there was quite a bit of rain, and then you are stuck either inside the room, or in some of the public indoor areas. Entertainment options are plenty, and I have to give a special shout out to the in-house entertainment crew: Abner, Alejandro, Angel, Rocio, Lindsey, and I'm probably forgetting a couple. If you get a chance to catch the visiting entertainers however, don't miss the opportunity. Service in the restaurant was good overall, a special shout out to Glendy. For a comfortable all inclusive beach destination at a good value, this is a great choice. A few things prevent it from being Excellent but I certainly don't regret my tine here.

Overall, the resort is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. In order to use the VIP benefit you had to spend a minimum of $100. A $200 massage is a bit much. Additionally, since we stayed in low season, the bridge and Asian were under construction. The food is very good in the buffet, probably the best we've had and we've been to many AI's. It was better than the a la carte's. We'd return if the price was right.
