Budget Inn Horseheads

What guests think

At Budget Inn Horseheads, travelers consistently describe a clean, budget-friendly stop just off the interstate, with basic comforts and generally friendly staff, though the exterior and lobby can look worn compared with the interiors.

Rooms are simple and often updated, with firm but comfortable beds; bathrooms tend to be small, and highway noise is noticeable in some rooms, while Wi-Fi is usually fine but occasionally weak. Facilities are limited for a no-frills motel, and several reviews note broken or absent amenities like the ice machine, alongside a worn lobby/exterior. Location is convenient for driving to Watkins Glen, Seneca Lake or Ithaca, but dining is mostly a short drive away and there is no breakfast. Expect a simple roadside stay.

The rooms were clean and recently updated. Beds were comfortable. You do get highway noise because of location. The outside could really use a coat of paint but the outside is no reflection of the room we stayed in.

the bed was very hard , pillow smelled of cigarette, after 3 trips to office (no one around) finally was told icemaker was broken, none to be seen . had to ask for extra pillow , only provided 3 , very very flat pillows , the noise from traffic wasnt bad after 11 pm , guests in next room kept hitting wall which actually bumped me reclined against headboard, when asked if we could switch to room further away from main corner of road , was told it was already reserved. however no cars or anyone ever showed on that far end of the hotel , it was cleanish, but being cheap was really the only plus

Bed was okay, I slept well and that's important! Big TV (not important to me). No breakfast. No ice machine working. Poor lighting in room, nothing by bed. Assume clean enough but couldn't see well. Stayed elsewhere in the general area on other occasions, next night a place for much less money, and they were easily much better choices. I'm not picky, and I rent at least 20 nights a year, every year for the last few, and this is one of the weakest in years.

Staff was super friendly. Room was clean and spacious for the economy room. Plenty of parking, safe area. The only downside (didnt bother me though) was the noise from traffic off the freeway. It was conveniently located, not far from shopping and restaurants. Check in was fast and internet was in great woeking condition. Shiwers had great water pressure and temperatures. Iberall for the price it was great. I actually stayed a total of 3 different times in 1 month due to work scheduling. Its actually an easy fmdrive into ithaca as well. I would recommend.

Floor in room was extremely dirty and needed swept, had multiple dead bugs all over floor and hair. Hair on bed sheets pillows and blankets. No vending machine or anything like that to get a drink or snack, the TV only worked on one channel, was woke up at 3 am to guest arguing outside in parking lot really loud. My door had about half once gap once shut. You can fully see outside through the Gap and it felt very very unsafe I did not sleep well at all due to that and most importantly out of everything it was a great price great place to go if you need a fast room but what really needs attention brought to is the other guest I guess I should say the different ethnicities because the moment I went outside to get some of my stuff there was a Mexican man that started walking towards me instantly asking me if I was there by myself and it was very creepy so I said no that I have my husband with me and then he backed away 20 minutes later I went back out and there was a different man than the same thing started walking towards right to me asking me if I was there by myself made me feel very very uncomfortable and unsafe

Impressively clean and dust free. Hard floors, not carpet, less luxury, but far more sanitary. Walking in white socks, no dirt on them. Bathroom spotless, towels and linens perfect. Very comfortable but slightly squeaky bed. Room about 12x15, desk, chairs, night tables, microwave, fridge, everything in working order. Bathroom door opens in, must close it to get to the shower. Problems: AC very noisy at night when compressor first kicks in. Wifi weak in the room.

The room was neat, had basic accommodations (fridge, microwave, toiletries, etc). It was also charmingly vintage, with the bathroom's pink tile walls with built-in tissue dispenser. Where I was concerned included check-in, where it looked that all receipts for the day's customers were already printed and splayed out. Names were obscured somewhat, prices not. After check-in, I found my room with the door already opened. In short, I found the room met my needs and was comfortable, yet tiny lapses did not make me feel incredibly secure.
